Has anyone tried the Rio Professional Teeth Whitening System?
I am referring to the System that you can use at home. I do not mean the cheaper £40 battery operated version. I am referring to the £100 mains operated version.

She hasn’t stated in her question that she intends to use the system, she has just requested for those people who have used it’s opinion. So why are people ignoring the question and stating their views on teeth whitening methods in general rather than on this product in particular.

Granted I haven’t used the product in question, but I do recognise, have experienced and know how hugely annoying it is when people who don’t have neither direct or correct knowledge of the question you are asking, none the less still answer the question anyway. Therefore providing information that is neither relevant or useful to the questioner.

You can find peoples responses to what they think of the product after having purchased it. I usually use this method whenever I want to purchase something but am not sure of how good it is.

You should be very careful using abrasives like baking soda. Once the enamel is gone its gone. Our dentist recommends Crest whitening strips. It works he said as good as the trays with less damage to the enamel. My son’ts teeth are so pretty and white from these.

Depends on what you eat and drink. I just did a project on this in my dental class. The whiteness should last 6 – 9 months depending on what method you used. Right after the whitening you don’t want to eat or drink any harsh foods. But if you’re brushing twice a day, it should last a while… (or at least I hope, because it seems expensive!)

It varies from dentist to dentists and on your insurance. Expect it to cost A LOT.

I did a professional teeth whitening at my dentist – and it didn’t work! Help! How do I get my teeth white?
The dentist put a gum protector and a gel on my teeth, then used an infrared light for an hour – I got zero results. I’ve tried Creststrips but it makes my teeth too sensitive (for weeks!) My teeth aren’t super awful, just a kind of pale transparent yellow. I want them as white as my eyes, like other people! I even see people on TV with paper-white teeth – I want that! HELP!

I have extremely sensitive teeth. I have to go back to the dentist because when I had my braces, my teeth weren’t taken care of like they should’ve been and I believe I may have a couple cavities now. Will they get rid of those before bleaching my teeth?
Sorry but don’t listen to anyone that tells you not go see a dentist. If you have cavities or old fillings, you should consider bleaching your teeth first then have those cavities filled. If you have tooth color fillings, those fillings will not be bleach and they will need to be replaced to match to your new tooth color. You should always get professional advise before bleaching your teeth. Also, if your have sensitive teeth you need a dentist to properly prescribe the correct bleaching concentration and bleaching agent.

My dentist told me $400 for the trays of professional whitener professionally molded to the shape of your teeth.
($200 top, $200 bottom)
but if I wait until January, it’s discounted to only $300
($150 top, $150 bottom)
My dentist also offers the one I forget the name but it uses light to whiten, but that costs $800 and does the same thing.
Both options my dentist offered are 10x better than the whiten-at-home things, and they are done professionally.
PLEASE DO NOT FALL FOR THE WHITEN-AT-HOME SCAMS!
You see, for only $300 I can get my teeth professionally whitened, but if I spend $80 like ten times over the course of several years for the ones like Luminous Brites (SCAM), I could have just as easily spent that $800 on the light-whitening thing at the dentist, or I could do the $300 option that is just as good, and used the other $500 on something more important.
Also, think about the time you’ll have to spend doing it yourself – not to mention most people never even finish one set of them because it’s tedious!
Also, all the ones you can do yourself like Lumious Brites (SCAM) many people have reported it causing sensitive gums, which is a serious dental issue and could cost you another $1,000 – $3,000 in dentist costs!
So just save like $300 and get your dentist to professionally do it for you. Then you have no worries!
Also it’s just a waste of money to pay for the light-whitening or laser-whitening. The dentist makes a ton of money off it too, so don’t let him/her sell you on it! It really works no better than the professional whitening that is placed in a plastic/rubber/ish [professional] impression of your teeth.
Also your dentist knows what he’s doing and if he screws up you can sue him for malpractice so at least you have a fall-back plan so you don’t get screwed up gums and stuck with a $3,000 dental bill. If you screw up your gums yourself, you have no fall-back plan; and plus you’re not an expert but your dentist is.

It depends – that’s probably a good price for a take home bleaching kit where you put the gel in trays and wear for several hours a day. If that’s the price for Zoom, jump on it! My office charges $550. Ask the dentist if he will give you a discount for cash.
Will teeth whitening work on darken tooth after root canal?
My front tooth is turning darker due to root canal treatment. Will professional teeth whitening such as Britesmile work or is getting a crown better? I was hesitated to get a crown because I am afraid it won’t look natural on the front teeth.
No, whitening will not work on this tooth. I think a porcelain crown would be your best bet. It will probably look more natural than any other option you have. Another choice though that hasn’t been mentioned is nonvital bleaching. My husband had it done on a front tooth and it made the darkness lighter, but it still is a little bit darker than the rest of his teeth. I’ve seen mixed results with this procedure. If you go to the 1st link below and scroll down to the pictures and where it says nonvital bleaching, it will show a case that didn’t work out, but that tooth was really dark to begin with. The second link shows one that worked out better. But talk to your dentist about it and he will be able to give you choices and help you make the decision that is best for you.
